Sylvène Gilchrist is an award-winning news and documentary producer/director with the CBC. She covers both domestic and international affairs. Her work touches on a diverse range of subjects. Highlights include: Investigation on Canadians and others joining Jihad in Syria and Iraq; Syria: Behind Rebel Lines an intimate look at rebel fighters Idlib, Syria; Shakespeare in Afghanistan, a one-hour documentary that follows an Afghan theatre troupe as it stages Shakespeare’s Love’s Labour’s Lost across Afghanistan; 8thFire, a four part documentary series focusing on aboriginal people and their place in Canada; Shadows of September: Art and Culture Post 9-11, examining the international cultural response to terrorist attacks.
